Everything Recraft V4 Styles can do

Recraft V4 Styles is Recraft's model for new pictures in a look you already have. Give it a style reference of one to ten pictures and it draws whatever the prompt names in their line, color, texture and light. It only makes new pictures: it doesn't edit one, and it can't start without a style reference. Standard makes 1K pictures and Pro 2K, in 14 shapes from 2:1 to 1:2.

Every picture below was made by the step under it. Change a placeholder and press Gen to make your own.

One picture sets the look

Start with one picture in the look you want. This heron print was drawn from words by Recraft V4.1, Recraft's model that needs no picture to start. Change its medium and the steps that read it change style with it.

V4 Styles reads the print as its style reference and draws whatever the prompt names: the lighthouse at the top, the noodle stall, the tiger. The prompt says only what's in the picture and where the camera stands. The cut lines, the two inks and the paper come from the print, not from the words.

A photograph's look is mostly its light. This still life was shot with a hard flash at night. The prompts for the sneaker and the perfume never mention the flash, the black night or the hard shadows: the reference brings them.

Name the subject, not the style

With the reference setting the look, the prompt only has to say what's in the picture. Leave style words out: they compete with the reference, and where the two disagree the picture drifts away from it.

Then say who, doing what, and from where. The three presets add one layer each: a bare subject; then his age, clothes, hive and meadow; then the shot. All three take their look from one picture-book page.

One character, the whole book

To keep a character the same from picture to picture, describe them the same way in every prompt, word for word, and change only the scene. The girl and her dog are one fixed sentence in this step; the placeholder holds where they are and what they're doing.

Several pictures, one style

One picture is enough to set a look. More pictures in the same style give the model more to go by: similar ones hold it tighter, and ones with different subjects, like these three stained-glass panels, show it how the style treats anything. A step reads up to ten. Recraft V4.1 drew the three panels from one shared description of the glass.

Each panel sits in a placeholder of its own, so you can swap in pictures of your own; the last one takes up to eight.

Precise or flexible

Style match sets how closely the picture follows its reference. Precise, the default, keeps the fine detail: here the gouge marks, the two inks and the bare paper of the heron print. Flexible keeps the general look and loosens the rest. Both steps read the same print with the same prompts; only the setting differs.

Use precise when the pictures must match a set you already have, and flexible when the reference is a mood to work from.

Any shape, up to 2K

The shape belongs to each step, not to the style. The flash still life is square; the same look fills a 9:16 story and a 2:1 banner. Say where the subject sits so the new shape has room: the banner keeps its left side clear for a headline.

Pro makes the banner at 3072 × 1536, and costs about two and a half times as much as Standard.
